Terrence Smith, Esq.

Terrence "Terry"  Smith, is an associate with Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C., of Teaneck, New Jersey.  He serves as a Senior Trial Attorney with the firm.  Together with Sam Davis, they head the firm's pharmaceutical tort, medical device and professional liability sections of the firm.  As an effective advocate for victims of medical negligence, In addition to representing plaintiffs, Terry Smith also uses his experience to help defend physicians wrongly accused of medical negligence.  

 

Originally, practicing on the defense side, Terry was responsible for the defense of complex product liability litigation and was designated as special medical trial counsel for a group of defendants in asbestos litigation. 

 

Having no regrets for previously serving as a defense attorney  he now says, "My years of experience as a defense attorney gives me a full understanding of how an insurance company will defend a case.   As a result I anticipate their defense and use it to my  client's advantage".

 

His substantial trial experience includes verdicts in product liability, medical malpractice, criminal, and commercial litigation.He is also a former Assistant Essex County Prosecutor. 

 

Prior to entering law school, Terry Smith was the Assistant Director for Research of the American Council on Science and Health, an independent, nonprofit consumer education organization, where he was primarily responsible for the evaluation of epidemiological research. 

 

As a well-published author, he is a member of the Bars of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

 

Mr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois; his Masters degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University Graduate School, Newark; and his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law-Camden.
